Who is froge?
Meet Froge. A small green frog that's been part of internet meme culture for years.
Froge's connection to OpenAI dates back to November 2023, during the controversy surrounding Sam Altman's removal and return as CEO. OpenAI employees began sharing the frog in internal Slack conversations, and it even appeared as a sticker on an employee's laptop in The New York Times.
OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman later shared the image on X, bringing more attention to what had become known as OpenAI's mascot.
That's how Froge became known as OpenAI's mascot. No branding campaign, no official announcement. Just an inside joke that became part of the company's culture.
